Obermeyer Rifled Barrels is known world-wide as a manufacturer of single-point cut-rifled barrels for target shooting, hunting, and national defense. Barrett "Boots" Obermeyer received his formal education from the gunsmithing program at Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado. After his active-duty service in the United States Army ended in 1962, Boots began making gun barrels in his family's Racine, Wisconsin, store. He moved production to Bristol, Wisconsin, in 1978. For more than four decades, Boots has pursued his passion for making quality barrels for marksmen, sportsmen, soldiers, and military-related industries. He is an active participant in NRA-sanctioned conventional high-power rifle, long-range high-power rifle, and smallbore rifle competitions, which provide him the opportunity to test his products and experiment with new developments. Boots holds a High Master classification in both high-power rifle disciplines, is a Distinguished Rifleman, and has won numerous shooting awards at the state and national levels.
